A crippled success story

Disability is a complicated subject that affects somewhere around 60 million people in the United States. Because disability can be broadly defined, statistics on the the unemployment rate of people with disabilities vary widely from poll to poll. In the United States, various polls put the unemployment rate for people with disabilities anywhere from 20% to as high as 60%.  Every disability is unique, and every person is unique in how they manage a disability. I am a Drupal developer with a disability and I am a success story.

In this session I will talk about my experiences growing up with a disability, and how the use of technology shaped my life. I will be sharing poetry and stories about some of my toughest life challenges. I will offer some insight into challenges I face every day. And I will share how I overcome these challenges to be who I am today. This is not a motivational talk, I am not your inspiration porn, I am just another member of this amazing, diverse Drupal community.
