Crossword Puzzles and Drupal

Newspapers and magazines have long used crossword puzzles to improve engagement and there's no reason websites can't use the same trick. With the Crossword module, adding crossword puzzles to your Drupal 8/9 site is extremely easy. I will demonstrate the basic installation and configuration. We will also touch on more advanced issues such as theming and meta tags.

I will also discuss a little bit of the history of the Crossword module. Most importantly perhaps, I will discuss how the project changed as more people used it and how it grew into the rare Drupal module that doesn't require a developer to use. Feedback from non-coding site builders was critical, making this module something of a case study for how the Drupal community can be greater than the sum of its parts.
