Ontario’s Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) is one of the largest insurance organizations in North America, covering over five million people in more than 300,000 workplaces across the province.

WSIB used Drupal to integrate and replace three traditional “clipboard and pen” evaluation programs with one multi-purpose web portal to help businesses improve their health and safety practices, leading to fewer people getting hurt on the job.

Northern Commerce worked with WSIB to leverage UX design principles and an agile approach to launch the first iteration of this portal in just 80 days. It collects survey data, connects businesses with experts, builds individualized action plans, and makes it easy for employers and program evaluators to upload and evaluate evidence of their progress towards learning goals.

The portal features advanced user dashboards, multi-stage webforms to make lengthy processes approachable. Complex workflows distribute cases to available program workers based on capacity, and facilitate approval processes that must be flexible enough to work for all types and sizes of businesses.
