Effective Mentorship through Empathy and Emotional Intelligence

Nicholas Lediet, Tove Tronslien

In this presentation, we will discuss how empathy and emotional intelligence are the keys to effective mentorship. We will explore how internal influences such as imposter syndrome, discrimination, and learning styles can impede the success of your mentee as well as look at techniques that can be used such as pair programming and open conversations to support specific needs. We will explore how to leverage our emotional intelligence to properly apply techniques to effectively support our mentees the way they require.
