Making the Leap from Drupal 7 to Drupal 9

As of roughly January 2021, roughly 60% of the reported Drupal installations are still running on Drupal 7. (This is five plus years after the release of Drupal 8 and six plus months after the release of Drupal 9.) With Drupal 8 going end of life in 2021 (and Drupal 7 going end of life in 2022) it's a good time to think seriously about moving off of Drupal 7. And it's not a great time to think about moving to Drupal 8 giving the timing of its end of life.

This session is all about taking a Drupal 7 site and prepping to move directly to Drupal 9! It's a big upgrade (it's jumping almost 9 years into the future, after all) but it's well worth it and can be done quite safely if you take time to do the necessary planning.

We'll talk about the content architecture, modules, features, and other changes present in Drupal 9 and how they will impact your Drupal 7 site. We'll also focus on future proofing your site so that what you have today will continue to work in the future!
