Join us at the sprints

Comic about sprinting at DrupalCon

If you’ve been using Drupal for more than a day, chances are that you’ve benefitted from some of the work done at DrupalCon sprints. Some of the most important breakthroughs for the project are made by sprinters at DrupalCon, and attending sprints is a great way to give back to the project you love.

There are plenty of different sprinting opportunities, including mentored newcomer workshops, opportunities to assist with documentation and issue queue cleanup, and many different options for contribution depending on your personal area of expertise. At DrupalCon Sprints, there really is something for everyone.

What's happening at the Sunday sprints?

Sprints on Sunday are free to attend for all and no DrupalCon ticket is required. If you join us to sprint on Sunday, you can participate in one of the following events:

1. First Time Sprinter Workshop

If you're new to Drupal contribution, you can attend the FREE First Time Sprinter Workshop on Sunday morning. The hands-on workshop will cover the basics of contribution essentials like the Drupal.org issue queues, IRC, git, and setting up Drupal 8 on your laptop.

2. Mentored Core Sprint

If you're not quite sure where to start contributing, and will have set up your Drupal 8 environment ahead of time, then to dive right in on sprint day, come to the Mentored Core Sprint. This sprint will run all day, with First Time Attendee Workshop attendees joining this sprint in the afternoon.
Sprint mentors will help you find a task for a Drupal core issue and then help you work on it. You can create patches for bugs, add documentation to issues, test patches, and more!
Be sure to set up your Drupal 8 development environment before Sunday. For more information on how to do this, check the Drupal.org tools installer.

3. Other Contribution Sprints

If you're an experienced Drupal contributor, you can head straight to the General Sprints to do focused work on one particular area of Drupal, like Views, the Drupal 8 multilingual initiative, the Twig theming system, Migrate, Drupal.org, and more. (Suggest a topic you can help lead.)
You will work directly with initiative leads and collaborate on issues. This is a great opportunity to make a difference for the Drupal project!

4. Closing Session Sunday Afternoon

The closing session for DrupalCon Asia will take place on Sunday afternoon at 17:30, at the end of the sprints. Drupal Association Executive Director Holly Ross will provide a recap of the convention, and will discuss what lies ahead in the future of DrupalCon.

The Drupal Association has partnered with Niswey, an India-based marketing firm, to provide marketing materials for DrupalCon Asia. Every few weeks, we'll be sharing the blogs and comic strips that our Niswey friends have created in anticipation of the convention.
