Laying it out in Drupal 8

Currently in Drupal 7 there are a handful of contrib modules that assist site builders to implement and control layouts, these include modules such as Display Suite, Panels and Page Manager. But what about layouts in Drupal 8? You may have heard of Drupal 8 Layout initiatives that haven’t made it into core and are wondering what layout options are available in Drupal 8?
During the past year I have been experimenting with Drupal 8 theming and presenting talks on it at DrupalSouth Melbourne as well DrupalCamp Sydney. This session aims to explore some of the layout options that are available in Drupal 8.
In this session I will:
- Briefly cover the history of the Drupal 8 Layout initiative.

Outline the status and demo current layout modules that are available in Drupal 8.
- Explore how flexible the new templating engine Twig is for implementing layouts.
