Micro Frontends with Drupal

For a large European B2B/B2C food retailer we have created a micro frontend solution using Drupal as the main provider orchestrating the separate services.

The website consists partly of regular Drupal content. Other parts display content of a commercetools application. Other parts again display search functionality powered by Elastic and Microsoft Cognitive Search.

The different micro frontends are fully functional end-to-end applications built with different technologies such as React or Vue.js with a common display based on eb components (custom HTML elements).

The result is a unified user experience, in which the visitor has the sensation of viewing a single consistent application.

In this session we will not highlight technical details, but rather show how content is orchestrated across the different applications.

Besides loading data from individual backends, the applications also share data among themselves, such as marketing content, which is created in Drupal and consumed in the shopping apps, or product information, that is provided by the shopping middleware and used in Drupal for recipe creation.

Throughout the presentation we will show real examples of fully functional websites.
