Amphenol: A GSA Replacement and Drupal Integration

Amphenol approached Hook 42 when their Google Search Appliance was reaching end-of-life. This case study discusses how we built a totally new replacement while basically leaving the existing Drupal system intact to mitigate risk.
We will review the nuances of the solution that include various environments, crawling, search backends, schemas, querying, spelling, synonym matching, and creating a new decoupled search interface.
Technologies presented will include Scrapy (a Python web scraping framework), Docker, ElasticSearch, React, and Drupal. We will share the architecture of how all of these technologies worked together to deliver results for Amphenol’s new search replacement.
