Cognitive Biases and how they influence team collaboration

klucic

According to Wikipedia, Cognitive Biases are systematic patterns of deviation from norm or rationality in judgment. They come in a vast variety of forms and affect our decisionmaking, how we socialise and even how we recall our memory.

In my experience as a Software Developer and Product Manager, I collaborated with several teams varying in age, cultural background as well as gender. All teamwork has its challenges and at the same time, it is driven by how we interact and make decisions. Here cognitive biases come into play as they can blur our decision making and steer us away from the path of success or team accomplishment.

In my talk, I would like to present where I was affected by these behaviours in my roles as Developer, Manager or Agile Facilitator and how they influenced success. I want to sensify everyone who is working in teams how to identify your own and others irrational behaviour and give you little tweaks on how to improve teamwork and our daily decisionmaking.
