The Developer's Toolbox: Tips and tricks for faster development

Kristen Pol

Developers always want to go faster. Repetitive tasks are mind-numbing so we figure out how to make them easy or automated. I've learned new methods for making development faster by watching other developers do their work.

This session is a selection of tips and tricks that can help you streamline your development so you have more time to play outside. Some things we'll cover are:

  • Browsers (organization, navigation, blocking, extensions, etc.)

  • Apps (IDEs, local stacks, data tools, etc.)

  • Command Line (shells, aliases, commands, scripting, etc.)

  • Beyond Tech (collaboration, planning, productivity, etc.)

Attendees will walk away with a spring in their step and a trick or two (or ten!) up their sleeve to help make their development process faster. For this longer session, bring your laptop if you want to add some tools to your toolbox on the spot.

Intended Audience

Developers would benefit from this session. You do not need to know Drupal. Many tips and tricks discussed are not Drupal-related.

Skill Levels

This session is suitable for beginners and intermediates. If you are advanced, share your tips and tricks with @kristen_pol on twitter. Note that even if you are a very experienced developer, it's likely you'll find at least one new thing here so check out the slides when they are posted.
