Drupal Magic Mirror: Using Drupal for simple sites
Far too often I hear that if you want a simple site, you go with Wordpress or Squarespace or something meant to be "easy and simple" to use and if you want a complex site, you go with Drupal. I usually disagree with that statement every time I hear it. Drupal is very powerful but is also easy enough to spin up for a quick and simple site at any time and should not be overlooked for these smaller, simpler use cases. I want to show others how easy it is to make a simple website, using contributed modules and just a few tweaks to a theme, that can be used as the underlying technology of a magic mirror. The build took just a few days, surprisignly, and invloves the following technologies:
- Raspberry Pi W 0 with Raspbian OS
- Slim Monitor
- Two-way Mirror
- A Drupal 8 site
- A few contributed modules
- A theme with some custom css
I hope to share my perspective of using Drupal for all levels of projects and how I try not to overthink and over complicate a Drupal site build.
This session would be valuable for all levels of Drupalers and people that like to do basic tinkering with electronics. There will be a little bit of custom theming but only at an elementary level.
