Drupal on your TV

rfsbsb

Online media content has become, more than ever, a big deal. Instead of just having a TV set that only gets content from a few channels, or having to pay a cable company to have more options, consumers now have smart TVs and smart devices for their living rooms — like Roku, Google’s Chromecast, and Apple TV.

And as the web has become nearly ubiquitous, almost all content creators are able to deliver content digitally, through their websites. But what about the new connected devices that don’t have browsers? How are content creators delivering their content to these devices?

With that question in mind, we set our own mission to create and develop a solution to this problem. Using Drupal 8, we created a module that makes it easy for content creators to deliver content to Apple TV quickly.

In this session you'll learn what it takes to integrate a Drupal 8 website and Apple TV app using Apple's TVML (TV Markup Language). You'll also learn how media content creators can not only create their media content, but choose their own template to display it on the app, without redeploying the Apple TV app, with just a few clicks.

In this session you'll:

  • Learn the basic structure of an Apple TV app
  • Learn why Drupal makes a great backend for this app
  • Understand the concept of templates and the power behind them
  • Learn how your content can be customized and delivered directly to the app on the fly
