Dynamic Layouts - Using Bricks to Enable Content Editors

Increasingly editors want to control not only the content of pages, but their layout as well. The field layout UI in Drupal is a powerful tool, but this session will showcase how the Bricks module, with some custom code and configuration, can provide a rich set of tools for editors to build dynamic layouts without blocks, or other changes to site configuration.

In particular, we’ll examine how this approach allowed Drupal to satisfy the needs of a major urban health care center. It gives site editors full control of the content and layout, with a rich toolbox to build online experiences.

This session will detail the capabilities available using Bricks, both out-of-the box, and with custom development. As such, the techniques described will appeal to beginner and intermediate developers, as well as content editors. All will leave with an expanded sense of the layout capabilities possible when using Drupal.
