New products or websites commonly struggle with problems within the first few days of launch. Reasons include not having enough hardware capacity for the initial wave of customers, being unprepared to handle customer or infrastructure problems, or not being able to measure if the launch is truly successful or not. This exposes businesses to risk as first impressions are everything; customer confidence can be lost due to an unsuccessful launch.
In 2017 Acquia Site Reliability Engineering introduced Launch Readiness Criteria (LRC), a checklist that ensures that all new Acquia products are ready for customers before launch. It is based on industry best practices as well as Acquia SRE's practical experience building and operating large-scale systems in production.
This talk will equip attendees with how to start building and utilizing a launch readiness checklist for their organization, the various operational aspects to consider when creating one, and the pitfalls to be avoided. This will enable attendees to prepare for and conduct launches as routinely and pain-free as possible.
