Mastering Contextual Links (Or any subsystem of Drupal)

rocketeerbkw

The Drupal codebase has evolved greatly over the years, but none more so than the most recent iteration, Drupal 8. Whether you’re new to drupal, or a Drupal 6-7 pro, mastering the new APIs for developing modules is an invaluable tool. But how do you gain that mastery? Read the docs? Watch videos? Attend DrupalCon?

In this session we will learn how to gain mastery over a part of Drupal by example. You will come away with a deeper understanding of the Contextual Links module. You will learn about it’s features, where they are used, and how to use them. You will learn about it’s APIs and how to extend it. You will learn about it’s codebase and how it’s structured in Drupal.

Most importantly, you will learn how to learn other parts of Drupal.

To get the most out of this session attendees should have a good understanding of site-building and general PHP (syntax and operation). Knowledge of Drupal 6/7 APIs and/or internals would be helpful but not required.
