Introduction to essential migration components in Drupal 8, and practical advice for how to develop functional migrations.
The first part of the session will cover the “project management” and strategy aspects of migration. This will include planning and organizing the project and estimating hours (it’s more than you think!).
The rest of the session will focus on the technical “how” of content migration in Drupal 8. We will begin with the basics, and then progress into optimization, groups, and custom work. This will equip developers with the tools they need to get a functional migration underway.
We also hope to provide a starter kit to help kick off a migration project, and links to important resources.
Target audience: Project managers and owners who are planning a site upgrade to Drupal 8 in the future; Developers who are unfamiliar with the Migrate API in Drupal 8.
This session will cover:
- Getting Organized: What do you have to move, and where is it going?
- Setting up sources: Where is the content coming from?
- Destinations: Where is it going?
- Processing: What are you doing to it on the way?
- Migration Groups: How to save yourself time by generalizing some of your migration work.
