Not-so-decoupled Drupal. A static React app case study
asgorobets
There's been a lot of talk around the community about decoupling Drupal and using it as headless CMS, or progressively decoupling it and embedding modern JS frameworks inside a Drupal page. But when do you consider just not introducing Drupal and working with a pure framework implementation? And what if you still need to host it alongside Drupal?
In this talk we’ll be reviewing a recent case for building a fully static app in React with no backend and how we decided hosting it within Drupal to take advantages of this, without going the decoupled route. In this session, we’ll be focusing on:
- Architectural decisions that led us outside Drupal for the project
- Benefits and drawbacks of going with standalone React vs the other approaches
- Challenges we faced building fully static app and ways to overcome
