Drupal8 comes with a decent composer integration in PHP - but we can all run Drupal without composer. Can we? Should we? In this presentation I want to show you what we've learned with having a "Composer Mode" and a "Standard Mode" in TYPO3 CMS - and why we still struggle with it. But... there is more to it. I think there is a lot more to move open source PHP projects forward by finding a way to go "composer only" - and taking the next steps together.
I'm Benni Mack - I'm the technical lead of TYPO3 CMS. I would love to not demo a competitor but show case a possible solution to make both CMS work on the same integration level and bring open source contribution across communities further.
This session is suited for people using Drupal with Composer, understanding dependency management with composer. Next to an in-depth insight into composer dependency management, I want to highlight best practices, but also make sure that Drupal and TYPO3 can reach the next level by migrating all projects to "composer only".
