Want your users to fall in love with your application then fall in love with your users and UX.

UX involves designing and planning an experience and creating a workflow for the users of a website or any application. It improves the user experience and customer satisfaction that ultimately helps increase the number of users of the specific application.

In one of my current assignments for a chemical company, we designed a chatbot widget integrated with Drupal site to understand the live status and saving produced from machines located at different sites. We developed and created this as delegated (in a waterfall model), but we had no clue about the end user requirement and their need.

Teams were excited to launch the product on time but the actual users did not find the app useful.

This is when we deep dived to find out goals and personas of the chatbot. It turned out to be a multilingual chatbot widget for multiple personas (Global user, Country admin & site admin) which was able to do much more than the existing functionality. (calculate overburn, underburn, saving potential, track machines via barcode, create future leads). This bot also helped predict the pre-sales to understand pool machines in any region.

We realized our vision was not even 20% of what was required.

To Conclude: UX is the skeleton of your body. UX is the reason why you can’t just make an application. Had we proactively ask the questions before starting the implementation of any product we are more close to achieving the goal. In this case study I would like to cover the following points wrt to our application:

  • It helps you figure out your audience (user personas)
  • It helps you with the organization and content creation.
  • It helps you save money.
  • It helps you make money.

In this session, I would like to go through how UX exercise helped us attain the project success.
