With the EU's The Web Accessibility Directive, there is increased pressure on governments to make their websites accessible. In the USA we continue to see business and governments at risk from lawsuits over basic accessibility issues.

People often forget about this, the power of the publishing platform to influence the accessibility of the final content.  A CMS can make it easier for authors to produce accessible content. Drupal 8 has advanced this a lot with the adoption of many elements of ATAG 2.0 AA.  There are still more elements which will hopefully find their way into Drupal 9.

Part of the session will also be based on the We4authors Cluster. This is an European Commission funded project led by Funka to help improve authoring tools among popular CMS.  Drupal is the most popular CMS in the hundreds of government sites that were surveyed.

This will be an informal discussion of the early work of this team, but also an opportunity to see what the Drupal community can learn from other CMS.
