The art of the demo: selling Drupal with a story

Have you ever spent 60 minutes showing a client all the shiny Drupal buttons just to end the demo with blank stares?  Selling technology is challenging work and when you know everything about the product, it’s easy to get in the weeds - and stay there.  In this session, I’ll share my approach to demos as a Solutions Architect at Acquia. We’ll talk about how to craft a compelling demo story, how to connect with your audience, and how to keep them engaged and excited about all those shiny buttons.  You’ll walk away with some solid tools in your technical selling toolbelt.

I will share a number of demo techniques I’ve learned during my years as a Solutions Architect that spark client excitement and keep them engaged throughout the meeting.  In this session, you’ll learn:

  • How to craft a demo story - a methodical approach to storytelling

  • How to keep your audience engaged - with anecdotes of how I’ve done it “in the field”

  • How to avoid common pitfalls - including how to bounce back when technology fails you
