Creating an organizational culture of giving back to Drupal

If you answered “YES” to any of these questions then this session is targeted towards you. The primary purpose of this session will be to share Mediacurrent’s journey around creating a culture of giving back and inspire individuals and organizations with actionable ideas.

Topics Covered
Most would agree that the opensource software movement has “won” and continues to advance at unprecedented levels. As open source software has grown in popularity and usage, so have the challenges. For example, there has been a lot of active discussion about how to sustain the Drupal ecosystem. This year, Dries Buytaert, the founder of Drupal, wrote a lengthy thought leadership article titled “Balancing Makers and Takers to Scale and Sustain Open Source.” However, as Dries eluded to, legitimate questions remain around the stability of the open source model and the potentially precarious path forward.

These are complex issues and need a platform like Drupalcon. This session will hopefully be a catalyst for invigorating the next generation of Drupal enthusiasts to serve and volunteer. This will attempt to not just draw awareness around giving back, but also provide an inspirational blueprint for creating an organizational culture predicated around purpose, contributing, cooperation, and altruism.
