A recent redesign of a Federal government website was a massive undertaking that was built upon a few essential success factors.  Key among them: an in-depth discovery process that laid the groundwork for synthesizing information and expectations among a diverse range of stakeholders. This session will cover challenges associated with migrating content from a highly secured government site and the impact of Human-Centered Design methodologies for shifting the focus from the needs of stakeholders to the needs of users.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, attendees will have a greater understanding of:

  • How to get multiple federal government stakeholders on engaged in a discovery process
  • Factors that drove the need for customized search functionality
  • Drupal 8 as a foundation for putting workflows and processes into systems to minimize reliance on institutional knowledge.
