Optimizing for Search Engines with 20/20 Vision

thejimbirch

The landscape of the internet has changed, and 2020 will bring us further into the known, and further into the unknown.  We’ve moved from open, ham radio-like days to one that is closer to cable TV, where a few large corporations control most of the content distribution on the web.

Once independent website linked together, and search engines crawled those links and served results that contained the best web pages to their users.  Now search engines attempt to answer their users’ questions with the best answers directly on the search results page, or out loud on phones and smart speakers. With the introduction of machine learning into the mix with Google's Rankbrain and BERT additions, we can be assured that what ranks today may not rank tomorrow as search results evolve around searcher intent.

We’ll review how to help your site display in Rich Features and how to identify Featured Snippets in Google search results, and how to optimize images and display different content for Twitter and other Social Media sites.

This session will present a future looking approach of organically marketing content and your company’s brand inside of search results and social media sites, and how that can affect traffic to your website, both positively and negatively.

In this session, we’ll cover:

  • How to identify opportunity in search engine results pages with Rich Features and Featured Snippets in Google

  • Techniques for optimizing content inside of Google, Facebook, Twitter, and more.

  • Strategies for allowing content administrators to easily manage inside of Drupal.

Learning Objectives

Attendees will come away having reviewed opportunities for appearing in modern day search engine results pages and how machine learning, user intent, topic, and industry are constantly changing and evolving.  We’ll also present ideas to take home on how to guide and empower content administrators to create the best strategy and content to achieve their goals.

Target Audience

This session is for those responsible for creating, marketing, managing, or presenting content that is discoverable by search engines and shared on social media sites.

Prerequisites
