Have you ever had the opportunity to partner with or lead a development team outside of your organization or agency? The beauty of working in the world of open-source software means that project managers and developers alike can virtually work side by side on any project. This type of partnership can be a great experience for everyone involved but it also can present challenges along the way.

This presentation will guide you through some of the challenges that often arise when working with in-house development teams. We’ll discuss real life examples and what we’ve learned along the way. We’ll leave you feeling energized and excited for the next time you may find yourself in this type of scenario. You will walk away with a valuable toolkit of tips and strategies that will put you and your partner team in the best possible position to succeed.

James Nettik and Andy Bell both come from Aten Design Group. This presentation will be from the perspective of James’ full stack developer experience along with Andy’s project management experience. Together, they’ve worked and partnered with organizations and universities such as Media Matters for America, WETA.org, and Stanford University.
