Winning with Drupal Commerce in a crowded eCommerce market

rszrama

Drupal Commerce has been in active development since February 2010. We've seen tens of thousands of sites launch with it and process billions of dollars in transactions, including some of the world's most recognizable brands. However, even as the Drupal 8 version picks up steam (10,000 sites and counting!), we still believe the project's best days are ahead of it.

Last year, Centarro (formerly Commerce Guys, the creators of Drupal Commerce) introduced a roadmap toward engaging the broader eCommerce market to give the project a fresh look. Experienced Drupal developers and agencies understand how to get the most out of Drupal Commerce, but we're focused now on improving our marketing, products, and services supporting the platform to match the language the industry uses and the expectations they have for modern eCommerce frameworks and applications.

This session will detail our recent efforts - from code, to partnerships, to product development, and more - to help teams succeed with Drupal Commerce more broadly. Attend this session to learn how to make the case to your merchant clients and / or internal stakeholders that the platform ought to be considered in even the most demanding environments.

Expect to receive a lot of information in a short period of time covering:

* Core framework roadmap through the end of 2020
* Contributed module initiatives (including who's sponsoring them)
* Resetting our posture toward the project as open source software vendors
* Hosting, support, and bundled services strategy comparable to competing platforms
* Observations from third party market analysts we engaged to set our 2020 strategy
* Where and how you should be winning deals with Drupal Commerce now

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, attendees will be able to...

  1. Articulate the short and long term roadmap for Drupal Commerce.
  2. Position Drupal Commerce relative to its headless commerce competitors.
  3. Identify areas for collaboration with Centarro and other community contributors to further improve the platform.

Target Audience

This session is for people responsible for marketing, selling, or delivering eCommerce projects who want to understand how to do even better with Drupal Commerce and to prepare for upcoming developments in our roadmap and product offering.

Prerequisites

Attendees will get the most out of this session by being familiar with general eCommerce project requirements, platforms, and challenges in custom eCommerce software development.
