Preparing for Migrate++
jazzdrive3
The Migrate module provides a powerful framework for migrating content into Drupal from various sources, even from another Drupal site. And now it's in core! For Drupal 8, the official upgrade path from Drupal 6 or Drupal 7 will (eventually) make use of it. But you don't have to wait. There are some things you can do now to help you prepare to take full advantage later.
In this session, the following topics will be covered:
- How certain Drupal 7 migrate functionality maps to the new version in Drupal 8. We'll go over migrating a hypothetical website to both Drupal 7 and Drupal 8.
- How using Drupal 7 migrate can help prepare you for general Drupal 8 development. Migrate in Drupal 7 is a great primer on OOP principles, and we'll go over some best practices that help reinforce them.
You will come away from this session feeling a bit more comfortable about the future of migrations, with ideas you can implement today to improve your current migrations..
It's recommended that you have at least a basic understanding of the Migrate module for Drupal 7.
