Course Description
Recent high-profile IT project failures have shown that traditional project management isn’t working, with regularly missed deadlines, budget overruns, and a failure to deliver what users actually need.
Agile methodology has shown it stands a much greater chance of success. More and more organisations, including governments and some of the world’s biggest companies, are moving to adopt it.
In this course, we cut past the evangelism that exists around Agile, and instead focus on real-world practical training that you can put into action.
The course is delivered using the Agile Scrum techniques it teaches. At the start, delegates see the backlog of requirements that the product owner (a trainer) has developed for the course, and the prioritisation of those requirements. The course then progresses in one-hour periods of work called sprints, working through training modules from the top of the backlog.
Part way through the morning, delegates are ready to take over as the product owners. They will take responsibility for specifying the requirements for the course, based on the needs and interests of the delegates in the room, re-prioritise them, and even add completely new requirements. Our trainers will respond to these changes by creating new training modules on the fly based on real project experience, to provide the highest possible value to the delegates.
Through this approach we demonstrate and explain the processes of Agile many times, and we also demonstrate their value, and delegates leave with a real insight into how they could apply agile, and handle some of the challenges they may have faced.
We regular deliver this course as an Introduction to Agile to large organisations and governments, and have received very high evaluation scores.
The trainers are highly experienced Agile coaches, who mentor teams at Wunderkraut (known as WunderRoot in the UK), as well as consulting with large clients about ensuring successful delivery of their projects.

- Why do we need Agile? – what can go wrong with projects, and the underlying problems
- The roles of Agile – explaining the work of the product owner, scrum master and delivery team
- The tools of Agile – demonstrating how requirements are gathered and displayed, and delivery is measured
- Agile communication – showing how teams keep track of what needs doing, show progress and share information
- Project governance – highlighting how Agile requires regular involvement from stakeholders
- Responding to change to deliver value – using tools, governance and communications to accept change as business as usual, and value it in moving closer to real user-requirements

Syllabus
Class begins at 9am, lunch is at 11:45, class ends at 5.
The course will be delivered as 1 hour sprints with 15 minute breaks.
The syllabus is covered roughly in the learning objectives, but will vary depending on the needs of delegates.
