Automating Website Video Integration with Media Auto
Media Auto utilizes the Drupal Media module framework and extends it by adding automated aggregation, node creation and media embedding from YouTube and Vimeo media collections.
Media Auto automatically:
- Embeds individual media in it's own node along with the title, description, original media publication date and other information obtained from the third party platform.
- Creates page views for video collections (a.k.a. a video wall).
- Creates default blocks for “What’s New”, and “In the News.”
- Creates default vocabulary with "What's New" and "In the News" terms. More terms can be added and used to further organize/categorize media.
- Provides an asthetic, full featured, easy to use administrative GUI for configuring and using Media Auto.
Video collection pages organize the created nodes into a “video wall” by collection (album, playlist, channel, etc). The module provides an automatic mechanism for updating (or unpublishing) the nodes and views if changes or deletions are made on the third party platform. New blocks and pages to further organize, highlight, and display the media can be added using views. Fields exposed to views include: title, description, body, media url, collection id, original publication date, thumbnail images, tags, etc. This module will be ported to Drupal 8.
This session is intended for both management who would like to learn more about utilizing the Drupal Media framework and Media Auto for their organizational video needs, and web developers who would like to learn more about using Media Auto to integrate and organize video on the sites they create. At the end of the session attendees will know what Media Auto does, how to install and configure it, and use it to create amazing, video enabled sites.
