Applying Lessons Learned from Core Mentoring to Your Business

Drupal Core Mentoring has become immensely popular since the idea of online office hours first came about in July 2011. To ease new contributors into the Drupal Core workflow, every DrupalCon since then has included Core Mentored Sprints and First Time Sprinter Workshops. As we iterated on each event, certain techniques – mentoring patterns – have emerged, and have also been adopted outside of Drupal Core Mentoring. 

We – Alina Mackenzie (alimac) and Cathy Theys (YesCT) – have both attempted to apply the patterns from Drupal Core Mentoring into practice within our organizations. In our session we will explain each pattern, and show examples of how to apply the key components of the lessons we learned since 2011.
