Do a Good Turn with Drupal 8: building a site for a Boy Scout troop

With all the changes in Drupal 8, some long-time Drupal users are wondering whether it is still a good choice for small-scale projects. It is! I know, because I am building a web site for my town's Boy Scout troop in D8.
I will share my experience building this site: which modules are available, which are missing; nifty new features in Drupal 8; rough edges and pain points; migrating data from an existing D6 site.
We will look at basic site building (content types, Views) as well as new features, so this session will work as an introduction to Drupal as well as an introduction to what's new.
