How the Culture of Contribution helps the Growth of Individuals and Organisation.

Introduction:

The success of any open source technology depends on how active the community members are. The reason why Drupal is so successful is because of the community contributions. This session will cover how people can grow individually and also help their organizations, by actively giving back to the Drupal community.

Key Insights:

• Why get involved: Benefits for an organization and its employees, when they get involved in the community.

• Ways to get involved: How can an organization get involved in contributions?

• We will take the example of our organization, and talk about how we delivered our first Drupal 8 project with the help of contributions.

• How contributions help improve both technical expertise and team-work.

• The session would also cover how we got new folks in our organization to start with contributions. The new folks were not just devs but QA guys as well, who were very excited to see their names in commit messages.

Audience:

Anybody can attend this session. Attendees would learn how/where they can contribute to Drupal, irrespective of their skill set. We want people to discover that contributions need not be technical, and that there are various non-technical ways to give back to the community.
