Implements hook_sensor()
Want to use Drupal to measure the temperature of your aquarium? Maybe keep an eye on the background radiation outside? Or perhaps you’d like to build something that uses Drupal to tell you whether or not it’s raining inside your own home. Or someone else’s home. We can do that!
This session is all about exploring Drupal's many and magical capabilities. We’ll learn how to utilize Drupal as a bridge between virtual data and three-dimensional tools by connecting physical sensors to Drupal through the internet. Learn the basics of the Internet of Things, and how you can leverage your existing Drupal experience to get involved.
In this session, we will log data in real time and have Drupal build a report for us. That's right, "we." Audience participation is mandatory during the live demo.
This is a technical session, but attendees do not need to have any prior knowledge of electronics to participate effectively. A working knowledge of Drupal 8 is helpful, but not essential. Some key takeaways of this session are:
- What the Internet of Things is (roughly.)
- One way to log a bunch of data in Drupal (plus better ways that I didn't use.)
- How to use Drupal's views as a low-effort reporting tool.
- How to get started prototyping your own electronics that you can use with Drupal.
