Introduction to Migrations

Gain from the knowledge of many migrations past! Dwayne McDaniel and Ryan Weal have both contributed to many migrations and will introduce you to the process of performing migrations from an organizational and technical point of view.

In this talk we introduce developers and site builders to the concepts behind performing migrations to ensure things go smoothly on your next projects. No prior experience using the migrate module is necessary.

We will cover:

• communicating migration progress with clients,

• “thinking flat” with your data sets,

• brief overview of Drupal 8 migration tools,

• things beyond the migrate module (shell scripts, networks, clouds) and where they come into play.
