Managing Relationships - A Conversation for Drupal Professionals

Managing successful work relationships require an amount of decorum, respect, and ethics. This session is targeted to any member of a Drupal team - developer, manager, designer, or client. We will identify the different types of contributors in a team (internal and external) and each role's expectations of what "successful" work means, what are "expectations", and what happens when someone does not meet expectations.

What will this session accomplish?

  • Surface roles, responsibilities, and expectations of work relationships.
  • Cover expectations of contractors, employees, vendors, and clients.
  • Describe how each role can impact (positively or negatively) the ecosystem of collaborative work.
  • Discuss ethics and making ethical decisions within the workplace.
  • Provide some level of discussion about Good and Ethical workplace behavior between contractors, vendors/shops, and clients.

What will you have learned?

  • People's expectations of a Do-er, a vendor, an employer, a client are different.
  • Meeting minimal performance expectations are the beginning of a healthy relationship.
  • Some people don't have even the most basic minimal expectations of work relationships, which cause issues.
  • What should the minimal performance expectations be for each role?
  • How to identify healthy or hurtful work relationships.
