Session Goals and Objectives:

Educate user community on advantages of open source web analytics tools.  Provide unbiased comparison of Piwik, OpenWebAnalytics and Google Analytics

Audience:

No prior Drupal experience is required, but knowledge of content management process (CMS-agnostic) is necessary.  This session is targeting users of all content management systems who want to know expand understanding of their web audience, behavior, trends and ultimately improve user experience by fine tuning marketing automation based on the new insights

Primary target:  Web producers, marketing SMEs, Business Analysts, Project Managers, UX/UI creative teams

Session Agenda & Focus Area:

  1. Google Analytics (GA) – it’s free, but is it worth it?  Understanding of choices and trade-offs when using GA
  2. Side by side functional review of Piwik, Open Web Analytics (OWA) and Google Analytics with focus on key functional differences and gaps
  3. Interpreting analytics data: look beyond the numbers and stats to capture all valuable needles in your haystack

Session attendees will get better insights into leading open source web analytics products, their development and support ecosystem, completing proprietary systems and key success factors to determine optimal approach to gather analytics data, process/understand which factors are affecting it most and update their sites to drive better user experience (and increased sales for eCommerce properties)
