Moving docs.acquia.com from Drupal 6 to 8.

Level of knowledge: Attendees should have a fair to good understanding of Drupal. Beginners will likely get some good information from this too.

Objective: The session will show attendees how to migrate a moderately complex Drupal 6 site to Drupal 8 using the core migration system, and some custom modifications.

We will look at how we can merge content types during migration, maintain the same node ids, node aliases and even the book structure. During the migration process we encountered several hurdles that had to be overcome to complete the data migration, including several core and contrib module bugs. With the help of our entire team, we were able to finish and launch before the official Drupal end of life date.

At the same time as the migration was going on, we were building the new theme using Zurb Foundation as the base theme. The session will also look how this was accomplished.

Attendees will therefore be shown the whole back-end and front-end process from planning to launch.
