Optimization is User Experience
Are you a designer that builds out your designs? Presently, we design websites that are more beautiful than ever. We have access to awesome tools. Many users have faster computers and better browsers. We use HTML5 video, retina images, custom web fonts and the latest plugins. Heck, some of us don't have to support older browsers.
However, when we release our work from its controlled environment it encounters network latency and congestion, low bandwidth connections and an unknown number of devices. How do we get users to experience our vision with these limitations?
Speed is a feature. It is an essential part of the user experience. The good part is it's not rocket science. There are useful tools and techniques any designer or developer can use to optimize their user's experience. UX starts when the user tries to load your page.
In this talk, you'll learn:
- Why speed matters
- How to optimize for the critical rendering path
