Planning Custom Applications Development with Drupal

Over several years, we've built a number of Drupal-based custom web applications, including an online admissions portal for a McGill University and an Internet of Things device certification portal for the Linux Foundation. We've learned that the process in building and maintaining such large, custom codebases is very different than building a regular dynamic website, and this session will share the lessons we've learned along the way, including:
- Estimation
- Specifications
- When to use contrib, and when to write custom code
- Planning for maintenance of the application
