PM’ing in OZ

There are many choices when it comes to managing Drupal projects. Should you use Kanban or Sprint? Do you need your remote team to meet 3 times a week or 5? What is the best way to communicate with the development team? When and how do you bring up risk factors? Everyone wants to know where to go for answers that fit their specific project.

Each project is unique, so a successful PM needs to rely on concepts, techniques, and past experience over forcing a single methodology or tool.

A large part of being a successful PM is learning how to approach different situations and the tactics you use from your toolbox. Should your approach come from the heart to show that you care about the project, client or team member; do you need to use your brain to present facts about timeline, scope or blockers that exist; or do you need to reach inside to find the courage to push back on something that will negatively affect your team or the client?

Jessica Mokrzecki (Technical Project Manager @ Lullabot) and Sean Lange (Development Manager & Technical Project Manager @ Lullabot) hope that individuals with and without project management knowledge attending the session will take away tips, ideas, and resources that we have used on Drupal projects that will provide a foundation upon which their own PMing style can emerge or evolve.
