The Power of Drupal & Real-Time Translation

Princess Cruises, the cruise line of Loveboat fame, has 17 ships that sail internationally serving over 1.7 million global customers per year. Because Princess has a very international clientele, translation of their onboard written materials - such as their daily newsletter, the Princess Patter, port guides, and welcome aboard letters -  is critical to their business. Princess was dedicated to finding a more digital solution to the creation, approval and distribution of their onboard collateral. The solution was to use their Drupal application Princess@Sea and Lingotek’s Drupal translation solution to facilitate the translation and distribution of their important printed and digital collateral.

Drupal is the cornerstone of this unique project. This session will cover two of Princess Cruises’s projects:

• the translation and digitization of their Onboard Surveys
• the translation of their daily newsletter, Princess Patter.

Using Drupal and Lingotek, Princess Cruises was able to centralize their fleet on their custom Drupal application and enable real-time translation for important onboard material.  

Attendees of all Drupal experience levels are welcome. The session will not require any previous knowledge of Drupal. It will cover a unique use case proving that Drupal can handle the most custom environments and showcasing its true power. They will learn about 2 customized, multilingual Drupal projects, and the presenters will cover lessons learned over the course of those projects.
