Scalable Storage in the Cloud with Gluster

A successful Drupal deployment needs the flexibility to scale and migrate among data centers and cloud services with minimal planning and overhead. One of the largest challenges can be managing an ever-growing data store. Traditional file storage systems are slow to scale and ill-suited for simple migration between backends.

With Gluster, we can provide a simple-to-manage scale-out filesystem with a flexibility equal to the Drupal frontend, allowing you to easily manage your data growth on-demand. In this session we will introduce you to the global namespace that enables this core flexibility and demonstrate the scaling and redundancy capabilities of Gluster. You will see examples of how Gluster is deployed both in the data center and across public clouds from Amazon, Microsoft, and Google. Building on a reference architecture from a major Drupal user, we will show you how to achieve resiliency across zones and service providers, and how to scale with efficiency without over-paying for block storage services.

Attendees should have a basic understanding of public cloud services and the concept of scale-out file storage. This session will be moderately technical, benefiting those in both technical and leadership roles by providing a foundation for how to get started and real-world examples of success.
