Selling Drupal Commerce

In this session you will learn how to sell Drupal Commerce; as part of an agency or a freelancer, or as part of an internal development team.

Merchants (i.e. online store owners), from the small startup to the multi-national corporaton, want to know how a technology decision is going to reduce their costs (typically through automation, but also through license / integration fees) and increase their revenues (through increased marketing potential). Fortunately, as a Drupal developer, you know how to do both - you just need to learn how to speak directly and convincingly to your customers' concerns.

In this session, we will discuss:
  • The competition: What applications are you going up against in both the proprietary / closed source arena and the broader open source world? How to show Drupal Commerce has all the same features they have "out of the box."
  • Tactics: What are the common lines your competitors' sales and marketing teams rely on to close a deal and how can you prove that Drupal Commerce plays a better game on their own home turf?
  • Combating FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt): What are the common scare tactics deployed against Drupal Commerce and how can you help your customers see through the distractions?
Drupal Commerce isn't a perfect fit for every prospect, but we're on a mission to make sure that no one in the community loses another opportunity because they were simply outflanked by someone else's slide deck or unprepared to combat FUD.
