Winning the Open-Source Sales Pitch with Drupal
Past is the time when a large organization published a certain letter using FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt) strategies about open source and everyone is now educated and aware of the reality… Or are they?
Our experience tells us they are not. More often than never, we are asked the famous question about "Open Source vs Proprietary", especially in the light of recent security concerns around the world.
This talk consolidates positive experiences as well as lessons learned from the inclusion of open-source in sales pitches to large organizations, where there still seems to have silos of people not clear on the facts. We broke this talk in two parts:
First, we will present the audience with the most popular myths about open-source projects in general concerning security, quality and support and how it's possible to refute them with arguments and data, mostly compared to proprietary software. The second part will target most of the information already discussed to Drupal itself, focusing on software collaboration, the community and ecosystem around the project and how companies and vendors can leverage these aspects to build an enterprise-grade solution and convince their clients this is the right path to follow.
Expect many examples of cases built with Drupal for different industries such as health-care, financial and government. Bring your own experiences and let's discuss!
