Managing Georgetown University's large distributed Drupal multisite environment with a small team required some creative solutions for site creation and management.  In the space of a year our team of six launched more than two hundred web sites managed by thousands of content editors most of whom have very little web experience.  While sites share common visual themes, they vary greatly in size, scope, focus, page structure and data architecture.

In this session we will share our experience and creative solutions on a number of fronts including how we
  • designed a single content type to maximize layout and editorial form flexibility
  • enabled editors to create tag based lists without using views
  • used custom modules to switch between predefined themes
  • enabled single sign on and centralized user management in a single site
  • used drush scripts to automate site creation and maintenance

This session is multidisciplinary and will be interesting for both project managers and developers. Don't miss a chance to hear us and ask questions!
