When to choose D8 - a practical checklist
aimeerae
Drupal 8 is wonderful, but how do you know when to use it for your clients or your own site? Right now - of course!! Well... maybe you have a business requirement that just isn't yet met from Drupal core or from contributed modules. We still use Drupal 8, right? Right? But what if it doesn't do what I need it to do?
How can you figure this out within the scope of your project? We will use a checklist to help get you a decision.
Level of knowledge required:
- Understanding of Drupal terms (core, contrib, modules, themes).
- Understanding of Drupal.org tools (issue queues, projects).
- Understanding of website requirement definition (e.g., my site must integrate with unicorns).
In this session we will address and learn:
- The strength and value of the Drupal 8 contrib tracker.
- Drupal 8 status in Drupal.org for contrib modules.
- Finding Drupal 8 project status that is NOT in Drupal.org.
- Identifying your website's requirements to quantify current support.
- Quantify the short list of go/no-go features that MUST be supported for your site.
- We will use real-world case studies to apply the "Is Drupal 8 right for me?" checklist.
