Why and how to develop your community?

No one is less or more important than us. We all are equal in community. Your contribution encourages us to contribute more and make the open source more powerful.

I am Ravindra Singh, leading Drupal Delhi community, and helping some other community initiatives. I try to find ways to get people involved to contribute back to the community. Here are some ways I found that people are showing interest, and understanding the benefits to be active in the community.

• Improving their d.o profile

  • Involving them in issues queue (novice issue prefered)

  • Mentoring them to find what they are looking for in the community

  • Organizing a team of developer + Q.A + Mentor + Reviewer, so they understand that community help them to resolve their issues.

  • Teaching IRC usages, and making sure language is not a barrier for them.

  • Helping their organization to understand the community contribution, which helps in their business growth.

  • Taking one-on-one session with individuals who are not able to speak loudly, so to boost their confidence.

  • For people who are technical/non technical and new to community, help them in understanding the drupal and use of drupal to make their life easier.

  • Giving them motivation and encouragement.
