Coronavirus (COVID-19) Disease Public Health Information

Dear Members of the Drupal Community,

The health and safety of the Drupal Community is our top priority and our thoughts are with the affected patients, their families and healthcare staff in these uncertain times.

Due to the spreading COVID-19 pandemic throughout the world and the uncertainty regarding the severity and duration of restrictions on travel and gatherings in Europe, KUONI Congress and the organizing committee of DrupalCon Barcelona 2020 decided to postpone the event to 8 – 11 December 2020.

We understand DrupalCon is one of the most important events for the community throughout the year, to gather and share the experience gained and to work on the project in person. It is our aim to give everybody the chance to attend this meeting in good health and with positive emotions, without being worried about the current difficult situation around the globe. Therefore, we see the postponement as the only solution.

Thanks to our suppliers and partners in Barcelona, we were able to move the DrupalCon Barcelona edition to new dates in December, without facing a big financial loss. We reviewed the alternative possible dates for the event in detail with the International Barcelona Convention Center (CCIB) and were able to move the event to the new dates of 8-11 December 2020. 

Inclusion is part of the Drupal DNA and we always strive to find dates which are not in conflict with any religious or public holidays as much as possible around the world. Unfortunately, the new dates include a religious holiday in some European countries on the 8th of December, which we are aware of. In the current situation however, we had to accept these dates, due to unavailability of the venue otherwise. However we adjusted the conference program to start off the conference with community content and activities on Tuesday with sessions starting on the 9th of December (Wednesday). The conference will end on Friday the 11th of December.

As of today, postponement continues to be the best option that governmental guidance and contractual obligations will allow.  While not all scheduled presenters may be able to rejoin the program, we will explore every opportunity for them to join. For this reason, we are exploring options around virtual presentations for speakers. Please continue to submit your presentations for DrupalCon Barcelona, we will extend the current deadlines and publish the new deadlines for the call for papers on the website soon.

We aim to contact all our sponsors in the coming days/weeks and work with them in maximizing the value of all sponsorships, in the time we now have before December. It is now, more than ever, that we need the support from the sponsors and industry partners to make this event a success. We are all in this together and it is our focus to create an outstanding event with DrupalCon Barcelona 2020, one which gives everybody the chance to gather in a relaxed atmosphere and enjoy the Drupal spirit, after this time of isolation and restrictions.

We will update the web site regularly to keep you informed about the development of the program and regarding the call for papers. KUONI Congress and the organizing committee are grateful for the ongoing support and professionalism of the Drupal community, registrants, corporate partners and other stakeholders who are promoting factual and helpful information.
