What is between agencies and freelancing?
There are a lot of creative people, who can’t work in an office from 9 to 5, so they become freelancers. But when you are a freelancer, you meet the limitation of freelancing quite soon.
On the other hand, when you run or work for an agency, it can be hard to keep productivity and quality high, especially when you want to be scalable.
Is there a way of merging the good side of freelancing with the good side of an agency scheme?
I’d like to talk about a concept where freelancers form a virtual agency or creative studio. This year I tried to work this way. Due to many factors, I had to leave it and get more permanent work, but I’d like to share my thoughts and tell you what were the challenges and benefits.
This talk tends to share my experience in the many roles and ways I worked during my career, hoping to give some new thoughts for newbies as well as seniors, who feel they stuck in where they are. I’m not a motivation speaker, not a coach, just one of you, who may completely get it wrong. Let’s talk after the session!
About me
With 20+ years behind me, I’ve worked as a freelancer, had my own agency, worked for agencies, worked on product development, had my own product, and this year worked with a group of freelancers on a project as well as multiple sales gigs. I wore many hats during my career, from sales to PM from being the only developer to working in a team, from developer-only roles to architect and product design.
Now I work for Platform.sh as a cloud engineer.
